Mandate Disclosure of Registry Status to Adults Living with Alleged Perpetrators

I am a mother from Massachusetts, and my life was turned upside down when I discovered that my soon-to-be ex-husband had been placed on the Registry of Alleged Perpetrators Listing in 2013 due to substantial proof sexual abuse of a child. The horrifying truth came out only when he was recently charged with indecent assault and battery on a minor under the age of 14. Had I known his status earlier, I could have protected her. My children and all children who entered my home were unknowingly at risk. The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) maintains this registry but does not currently require disclosure to adults living with someone listed as an alleged perpetrator. This lack of transparency puts countless children at potential risk every day.We are calling for a change in this policy that would mandate DCF disclose the registry status to adults living with someone who has been added to the list. This critical information can empower them to protect their own children and those invited into their homes. This is not just about one family's nightmare; it's about preventing future harm to innocent lives across our state. It's about ensuring no other parent finds themselves blindsided by such devastating news, left wishing they could have done something sooner if only they had known. Please join us in urging DCF for greater transparency regarding the Registry of Alleged Perpetrators Listing – because knowledge is power, especially when it comes to protecting our children from harm. GANG STALKING IN TEXAS

I am a resident of Beaumont Texas, currently residing in Amelia which is considered ACORN(Neighborhood). I have a degree in Crime Scene Technology and I worked for both Orange County and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. There is and I quote absolutely nothing paranoid or delusional about me,so they can save it. I am here to tell you that Gang Stalking exists right here in my neighborhood. Texas is not as familiar like the State of California. I have no problem being the voice for Texas because I am not a follower nor a coward. This type of harrassment needs to be addressed, stopped, and punishable by law! I AM A TARGET AS WE SPEAK!!! I've tried contacting a few people with not much luck because half are not even familiar with what this is. I have an overwhelming amount of evidence and I am not going to stop until these people are tried and convicted. Nobody, no human being, should be subjected to this type of continued abuse. I am not easily intimidated, but I have daughters and a 4 year old granddaughter. I have been followed numerous times while trying to spend time with my granddaughter. That right there is not cool to me. My house is already under Special Attention with BPD(so they say) and I've made a report to the Detective's Office as well as turned in pics and license plate numbers. Not one single detective has called me in or come by my house to even hear or see what type of evidence I have. I'm thinking of the people before me and the people after me. This thing ends now and shame on this ACORN neighborhood for covering it up for years. Thank God that my Faith is strong because BPD is a joke right now.... you can't protect and serve if you trying to make the victim seem like a mental patient. I wander how many people have actually lost their minds or committed suicide because nobody would listen or believe them. It's not fair that people with money can psychologically manipulate innocent citizens for a sport. This is a well planned and we'll orchestrated game of community mobbing and neighborhood bullying! I will not take no crap from none of them because I don't bother people and I stay to myself, but this crap as disrupted my entire life and I am Fed Up with y'all ignoring it!!! Do the right thing and do something about it....HELP ME AND ALLOW ME TO HELP OTHERS

Save Our Sibley East School Pool!

Our beloved local pool in Arlington, MN has been a cornerstone of our community since the 1970's. Thousands have learned to swim within its welcoming waters, and many more have found employment through its existence. For some, it is more than just a pool - it is an essential means of exercise and health maintenance. The threat to close this vital community asset is not only an attack on our local history but also on our health and wellbeing. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), swimming is the fourth most popular sports activity in the United States and a good way to get regular aerobic physical activity. Just 2.5 hours per week of aerobic physical activity such as swimming can decrease the risk of chronic illnesses (Source: CDC).Moreover, pools provide essential life skills education - teaching children how to swim can reduce their risk of drowning by 88% according to The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Our local pool has played a significant role in ensuring that generations have these necessary skills.By closing down this facility, we are denying future generations these opportunities for growth, fitness, safety education, and potential employment. We must fight against this proposed closure! Let us rally together as a community dedicated not only preserving our past but also safeguarding our future. Please sign this petition today; let your voices be heard loud and clear – Save Our Pool!

Demand an end to the Avista monopoly in Spokane

I am a full-time worker, fully disabled, and an Avista customer who is unable to move. Like me, thousands of people in Spokane are being charged three times the rate of other power companies in Washington by Avista. With no other service providers available within the city, we are left with no choice but to pay these exorbitant rates. Isn't this the very definition of a monopoly? Inland Power has the capacity to serve us here in Spokane; however, we are not allowed to switch providers. This lack of competition allows Avista's profits to skyrocket unchecked - their profits increased 353% from 2022 to 2023. And still is not enough? The CEO makes over 4.5 million, and the rest of the board of directors make an average of $1.2 million-$1.5 million annually. For a company operating in only 3 states doesn't that seem a little exorbitant? We need immediate intervention from our local and state representatives to address this issue and ensure fair electricity rates for all residents of Spokane. It's time for us consumers to stand up against this unjust monopoly and demand change. Please sign this petition if you believe that everyone deserves access to affordable electricity services without being exploited by monopolistic practices!

Tiverton Public Schools - Option 3

Read more about Option 3 versus the FY25 Operating Budget Request from Superintendent hereWe are excited to share a new option with all of you that we are referring to as OPTION 3. We have given the school department several weeks to respond to our questions and revise the budget however we have gotten little to no response. In an attempt to offer an alternative to the poorly conceived plans that were presented (Options 1 and Option 2), we are proposing this new option that will save positions, maintain the integrity of our five schools, and bring down the overall deficit. This plan is based upon input given during the last three weeks during the town meetings and online forums. Please note the following:While an elementary Guidance Counselor position would be eliminated, there would still be a Social Worker available for students. We would be reducing the number of Speech Pathologists from 5 to 4 in the district which means that some would need to travel between schools. The benefits on the full time positions were estimated. We hate to eliminate any positions but unfortunately, given the current situation, we feel that we are left with no choice.Eliminating one Reading Specialist and one Math Specialist at the Middle school would not completely take away support from our students. The Middle School would still have one Reading Specialist, one Math Specialist and the Bridge Program to support struggling students who are not identified for Special Education services. The majority of the budget lines that are in option 3 were increased dramatically from FY24 to FY25. These budget lines have all been reduced to bring down the overall deficit. We hope that fundraising could support the Assistant Coach positions. If the new facility is funded through capital projects, perhaps the fundraising can go to athletic programming. We believe that OPTION 3 should be submitted by a collective and not by individuals so we are looking for your help in signing a petition asking the School Committee, the Town Council, and the Superintendent to consider this option. You can sign in person at:George’s Gas and Services on Stafford Road- we will be picking up the petition sheets on 4/20/24We hope you come out to support our plan!

Rename Ashleigh Melisse to Maurice Mosley Blvd in Honor of his life.

Maurice Mosley was not just an individual; he was an embodiment of strength, kindness, and community spirit. His sudden departure has left a void in our hearts. In his honor, we propose renaming Ashleigh Melisse Blvd to Maurice Mosley Blvd.Maurice's contributions to our community were countless. He inspired hundreds of people and his infectious smile brought joy to everyone around him. His passing is a great loss not only for those who knew him personally but also for the entire Jacksonville community.Renaming Ashleigh Melisse to Maurice Mosley Blvd would be a great symbolic gesture to the friends, family, and all the people he's inspired. We understand that changing street names is not taken lightly by city officials due to potential confusion or inconvenience it may cause. However, we believe that honoring such an extraordinary individual like Maurice outweighs these concerns.Let us immortalize the memory of this remarkable man by renaming Ashleigh Melisse after him. Sign this petition today if you agree that our beloved friend deserves this recognition in Jacksonville.

Protect the trees and wildlife near Joyner Park!

Friends and neighbors,If you have ever visited the beautiful and uncomparable Joyner Park on Harris Rd in Wake Forest, NC, then you know the serenity that the park evokes from its tranquil walking trails, mature trees, and natural setting. Now, the beauty of this one-of-a-kind park is threatened by plans to develop the 68.28 acres of pristine forested land directly across the road from Joyner Park: the Harris Road subdivision. This forested area surrounding Joyner Park enhances the lush green landscape that is enjoyed by all who visit the park year round and is home to an abundance of wildlife. Currently, the land is zoned as Rural Holding District (RD). However, Church Street Company, a Raleigh based development firm, would like to rezone it for General Residential-10, Condition District (GR10-CD), and Highway Business (HB), an effort that will destroy the trees and wildlife in the area and replace it with high density housing. As we are well aware, Wake Forest is rapidly developing all around us and more often than not, the development is reckless and negligent with little to no regard for the trees and wildlife that truly makes Wake Forest special. This type of development is in contrast with the Town's vision statement which states, "Smart sustainable growth strategies will guide future development, with an enhanced focus on preserving open space, maintaining a lush tree canopy, and ensuring sufficient infrastructure is in place." (Wake Forest Community Plan, April 2022).Ultimately, to keep this parcel of land protected and preserved, the landowner should donate it to the town as a nature preserve or wildlife conservation. Alternatively, the town could purchase the land and designate it as open space or an extension of Joyner Park. From Gerald Pottern, a biologist and environmental consultant who lives in Wake Forest: "On rare occasions, a piece of land stands out as a really special -- a place that should NOT be cleared and developed. The Pate property is one of those rare places -- an ecological jewel with nearly-pristine headwater streams, wetlands, and a spectacular north-facing bluff forest.""If the Town would be willing to consider preserving this site, it would be a valuable resource for teaching stream and wetland ecology and forest ecology, with proximity to Joyner Park and nearby schools. It could also provide good training examples for stormwater professionals, since the high-quality condition of these streams and wetlands provides a good educational contrast to the more channelized, eroded, and silted streams on the existing Joyner Park property and elsewhere around town...Given the loss of forest habitat on the Joyner Park property to the south and the new housing development to the west, the remaining forest habitats at Joyner are fragmented into small isolated patches which makes them unsuitable for animals that need larger forest patches to survive. Preserving all or a portion of the Pate Tract adjacent to Joyner Park would partially mitigate those losses and would certainly enhance the Town’s 'crown jewel' park."Therefore,we must make our voices heard! Change will not happen unless we as residents band together to voice our opinions and concerns. Wake Forest officials, planners, and developers must stop reckless development of natural areas and instead focus on preservation of trees and wildlife in order to maintain the character and distinctiveness of our neighborhoods and town. We must all do our part. Sign this petition, contact your local city officials, attend public meetings and hearings, vote, take action...because this is our town.Follow us on Facebook!Follow us on Instagram!News Coverage: WRAL ABC11 CBS17 Wake Weekly (1), Wake Weekly (2), Wake Forest Gazette

If you have ever visited the beautiful and uncomparable Joyner Park on Harris Rd in Wake Forest, NC, then you know the serenity that the park evokes from its tranquil walking trails, mature trees, and natural setting.

This type of development is in contrast with the Town's vision statement which states, "Smart sustainable growth strategies will guide future development, with an enhanced focus on preserving open space, maintaining a lush tree canopy, and ensuring sufficient infrastructure is in place." (Wake Forest Community Plan, April 2022).

Ultimately, to keep this parcel of land protected and preserved, the landowner should donate it to the town as a nature preserve or wildlife conservation. The Pate property is one of those rare places -- an ecological jewel with nearly-pristine headwater streams, wetlands, and a spectacular north-facing bluff forest."

"If the Town would be willing to consider preserving this site, it would be a valuable resource for teaching stream and wetland ecology and forest ecology, with proximity to Joyner Park and nearby schools. Preserving all or a portion of the Pate Tract adjacent to Joyner Park would partially mitigate those losses and would certainly enhance the Town’s 'crown jewel' park."

Therefore,we must make our voices heard! Sign this petition, contact your local city officials, attend public meetings and hearings, vote, take action...because this is our town.

Preserve and Renovate the Historic Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach

As a resident of Miami Beach for over 17 years, as an urban planner, and as an architect, I have witnessed firsthand the destruction of many iconic landmarks and historically significant buildings in our beloved city. The Jackie Gleason Theater is one such iconic building that stands at risk today. This historic theater has been a part of our city's cultural fabric for decades, hosting countless performances and events that have brought joy to residents and tourists alike. Now, Live Nation and City officials are considering tearing down this historic building to make way for new contemporary architecture. While progress is important, it should not come at the cost of erasing our history. The Jackie Gleason Theater is more than just a building; it represents our shared heritage, memories, and community spirit. Its preservation would not only honor its historical significance but also serve as a testament to Miami Beach's commitment to preserving its unique character. We urge Live Nation and City officials to propose a sensible solution that incorporates new contemporary architecture without demolishing this historic structure. We believe that modern development can coexist with historical preservation.Elected city officials need to understand the value of preserving such iconic structures which contribute significantly towards the identity of Miami Beach. It's time we put an end to arbitrary decisions leading towards insensitive development which disregards the desires of those who love this city.Residents care about their home;“The city can procure as follows: advertise for a design architect; then step 1: short list to 3-5 based on qualifications, then step 2: provide a stipend to short list vendors to submit renovation design concepts, then select one to negotiate based on design. Rename Neptune High School Gymnasium in Honor of Coach Kenny O’Donnell

As a former student and player under the guidance of the late Coach Kenny O'Donnell, I am deeply moved to initiate this petition. Coach O'Donnell was not just a coach to me and my three brothers, but also an educator, mentor, and pillar of our community. His dedication to basketball brought home state championships for two generations of my family - first with me, then with my younger brother seven years later. He also led myself and my siblings to shore conference championships along with many others who played for him.Coach O’Donnell’s legacy extends far beyond our personal experiences. For over six decades, he served Neptune community as an all-state student athlete, a teacher, a referee and a championship coach. His coaching career is adorned with 3 state championships and 7 shore conference championships among many other accolades. At his retirement, he was among the top five coaches in New Jersey in terms of wins - close to 600 victories. His contributions were not limited only on court; he was also known as a great husband and father off the court. It's time we honor his memory by renaming Neptune High School gymnasium after him – as the Coach Kenny O’Donnell Gymnasium.Join us in honoring this remarkable man who has left an indelible mark on our lives by signing this petition today then share it to the community!

Presidential Order to halt research on Directed Energy Weapons

We call on the President of the United States to issue a PUBLIC order to halt all research and all projects related to Directed Energy Weapons. This order would not be modifiable without another PUBLIC order. The order would require the preservation of all records. The so-called Havana Syndrome has been reported in the news, though not necessarily it's full extent. If a Directed Energy weapons project has come under criminal influence, it may be impossible to staunch with half measures. The President should consider the possibility that a weapons project was designed, in part, to produce the symptoms of various diseases in people, and that it comprises a network of small phased arrays operating at very low power.

Reinstate the Unjustly Dismissed Clovis North Orchestra Teacher

Dear Parents, Students, and Supporters of Clovis North High School & Granite Ridge Intermediate School,I am writing to you today with a heavy heart regarding the recent and abrupt departure of our beloved Orchestra teacher, Mr. Chang. His sudden leave of absence has deeply saddened and unsettled our school community, especially our children who have benefited immensely from his guidance and mentorship.Mr. Chang is not just a teacher; he is a mentor who has inspired a love for music in our children. His dedication and passion for teaching have left an indelible mark on countless students over the years. The void left by his absence is palpable in the classroom and is keenly felt by each student he has taught. The circ*mstances surrounding Mr. Chang's departure are deeply concerning. An incident occurred earlier this year where Mr. Chang handled a situation involving playful wrestling among students with lightheartedness and humor. Regrettably, this incident led to his sudden leave of absence without due consideration for the profound impact on our children's academic progress and emotional well-being.We firmly believe that the decision to place Mr. Chang on leave was made hastily and without proper evaluation of the situation. Mr. Chang's dedication to his students and his impeccable record as an educator speak volumes about his character and intentions. He is known for his unwavering support and dedication to helping his students grow into happy, responsible individuals. It is clear that Mr. Chang's absence has left a void that cannot be easily filled. We urge the administration of CN High School & GR Intermediate to reconsider this decision and reinstate Mr. Chang immediately. Our children deserve the opportunity to continue receiving quality arts education under his guidance. Please join us in signing this petition to demonstrate our unwavering support for Mr. Chang and to advocate for the preservation of quality arts education at Clovis North High School.Sincerely,Anastasia Cervelli Bopp

Share the Moon!

[For an introduction to the Space Treaty Project and related papers/articles, please click here. Main site: spacetreaty.org.]Humanity is facing a historical crisis, when just a slight shift can cause massive changes that can last for decades, even centuries. The closest parallel occurred five centuries ago, when the Age of Exploration became the Age of Imperialism and Colonialism. A few countries with advanced technology sought to control the resources of “new” worlds and created a legacy of war, suffering, and neglect that is still being felt today. We need a new international agreement on space resources to keep from repeating the mistakes of history.Since 2017, the Space Treaty Project has been developing a Model Resource Agreement that can stand alone or be part of the Moon Treaty. After extensive peer review and public comment, the current version establishes a legal framework for space resource activity that supports the private sector while still protecting essential public policies (e.g., free access, nonappropriation, due regard, and acting "for the benefit and in the interests of all countries") and without creating a new supra-national government. It focuses on three types of sharing:1. Share Resources: Access to resources shall be shared. All space resource activity shall be conducted in such a manner so that others can safely access the same resource, with due regard and without harmful interference to the efforts of others.2. Share Information: Countries and their nationals shall share the results of space resource activity, including the discovery of new resources. Technology shall be shared through standardization, interoperability, licensing, and capacity-building.3. Share Responsibility: Countries and their nationals shall protect sites of scientific/historical/cultural interest and prevent the harmful contamination and disruption of the existing balance of the lunar environment. The full text of the two-page agreement is at www.spacetreaty.org/modelimplementationagreementcurrent.pdfThis effort has been given a boost by the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. In 2022 it created a Working Group on Outer Space Resources, whose five-year mandate includes considering "additional international governance instruments". Their work so far is available at https://www.unoosa.org/oosa/en/ourwork/copuos/2023/index.html. But a deadlock has developed over the above issues, one that threatens to derail efforts toward a new international agreement (see links to article and video, below). This Petition is intended to show popular support for such an agreement, to make it easier for negotiators and world leaders to achieve consensus on a framework for sharing outer space resources. We have reached a moment in humanity's history when an international agreement is essential. In December 1968, our view of the world changed, literally. As Apollo 8 rounded the Moon, the astronauts on board were suddenly overwhelmed as humans saw the Earth rising above the lunar horizon for the first time. The picture taken at that moment showed our beautiful planet hanging in the vastness of space. Humanity as a species began to realize that we are all one, living together on a fragile planet hurtling through the cosmos. But even though no borders were visible, war and suffering continue to wrack our home world. In the half-century since, people have begun to lose faith in their governments, their private institutions, even in humanity itself. Every day we wake up to news of worsening climate change, increasing social unrest, and rising international conflict. To that has now been added the threat of war in outer space. The people of Earth are beginning to despair, wondering if there is anything they can really believe in. They are losing hope. The mission of the Space Treaty Project is nothing less than to restore that hope, to counter the despair of war and violence and neglect, to give the people of our planet a future they can believe in by helping the nations of the Earth to build a common future. We have a unique opportunity to set an example, to build that shining city on a hill that will light the way for all.It has been 500 years since the world has had such an opportunity to start anew. At that time, we chose to perpetuate military conquest and economic exploitation, which caused misery and countless wars. And when the Industrial Revolution came along, we placed profits ahead of people and the planet, resulting in economic and environmental catastrophe. Much of humanity stopped believing in our ability to control our own destiny. We can change that. But we must act now. There will be only one time when humanity leaves its home world, only one chance to create a new pattern that will lead each person, and all nations, to their best destiny. That time is now. Humanity is facing a historical crisis, when just a slight shift can cause massive changes that can last for decades, even centuries. A few countries with advanced technology sought to control the resources of “new” worlds and created a legacy of war, suffering, and neglect that is still being felt today. We need a new international agreement on space resources to keep from repeating the mistakes of history.

Since 2017, the Space Treaty Project has been developing a Model Resource Agreement that can stand alone or be part of the Moon Treaty. After extensive peer review and public comment, the current version establishes a legal framework for space resource activity that supports the private sector while still protecting essential public policies (e.g., free access, nonappropriation, due regard, and acting "for the benefit and in the interests of all countries") and without creating a new supra-national government. Free Pac Man

Pac Man is a 7 year old police K9. His handler/officer was put on leave due to a medical reason. Instead of the city police allowing the K9 to retire & be with its handler they have chosen to put the K9 in an animal shelter to be kept in a kennel 24/7. The K9 is also in poor medical standing & is known to have leg issues. The city of Dunn PD located in Dunn North Carolina. is refusing to even allow the K9 officer to purchase the dog from them so that the dog can retire with its officer who it knows & has bonded with. This is not the first time this has occurred with this same police department. Please sign this petition to allow Pac Man to retire with his officer.

SAVE THIS LAND! Stop Allora Project 800 8th Ave SE, Largo Florida

The image included in this petition is of a horse wading in the wetland that is a part of the property at 800 8th Ave SE where this project is propsed to be built. The community will need to rise up if we want to stop this land from being destroyed. The Allora project proposes to build a massive complex of 336 multifamily and low-income apartments along a two-lane road with no shoulders in a Largo single family residential area. The community strength defeated a previously proposed apartment complex from being constructed on this Land by working with our city commissioners. Now OUR VOICE is being taken away due to the State Live Local Act. The project developer DOES NOT propose to make any infrastructure improvements other than a sidewalk. All of us in the community will sufferHigher property taxesPotential FloodingUnsustainable trafficSewer, water, eectricity impactEvironmental and animal habitat destructionAir quality degredationNoiseThe image below shows where the proposed project is to be built in our community and this beautiful greenspace will be destroyed.. The land it is proposed to be built on is labeled "subject property" on the image. The Florida Live Local Act removes the ability for citizens to defeat a project like this by removing the requirement for municipalities to hold public hearings and citizens to defeat unsuitable projects. Neither does there seem to be any appeal process for citizens. What was he thinking? It is destroying communities and taking away the voices of its citizens. As a property owner adjacent to the proposed site of the Allora project I am deeply concerned about its potential impact on our community. The scale of this development is completely incompatible with surrounding land uses and will undoubtedly generate an unsustainable amount of traffic for our small road to handle and many other negative impacts.8th Avenue SE serves traffic to and from the Largo Middle School and connects to Central Park Drive upon which the Largo Library, Cultural Arts Center and Cental Park are located. Imagine the traffic tie ups this development will cause during events at these community activity center facilities in addition to the already existing traffic backups during middle school drop off and pick up.This project proposes to elevate the land at the development site which has the potential to exacerbate flooding in the area during exceptional weather events.Furthermore, this land currently serves as a vital greenspace for our community and is home and a migration corridor to various wildlife species, some of which are supposed to be protected by law. The loss of this habitat would be devastating not only for animals but for the surrounding community as well who value the natural habitat and beauty it brings to our neighborhoods and community. Our community has already witnessed too much destruction of greenspaces without any substantial infrastructure improvements or thoughtful preservation efforts. There are suitable areas in the City of Largo to serve the purpose of the State Live Local Act and we all know that more housing is needed BUT the land at 800 8th Ave SE is not suitable. This is not a traditional petition. It will not be submitted to any city, county or state entity as a primary means of defeating the Allora project. It may be provided to city, county, state officials to show the strength of our opposition. At this point no petition alone will prevail in stopping Allora due to the Live Local Act.We need to act with strong community opposition and willingness to work to defeat this project. This petition will get consensus from the surrounding public and to establish a list of people who are willing to help fight against the Allora project. If there is enough consensus and enough people willing to help, we will organize and see what next steps we can take to organize and fight Allora. We cannot allow this trend to continue unchecked. It's time we take a stand against such developments that prioritize profit over people and nature.I urge you all - especially those residing in Park Place and other surroundng neighborhoods and the entire Largo community and county to join me in opposing the Allora project at 800 8th Ave SE in Largo, FL.Let's protect our community from further environmental degradation and ensure that proposed developments align with sustainable practices that respect both human needs and wildlife habitats. Please sign this petition and include your name, email address. Demand Justice for Ziya: Reunite Her with Her Rightful Parents

We bring to you the heartbreaking story of Ziya, a miracle baby who was born at a mere 10oz and fought against all odds to survive. After five months of dedicated parental training and preparation, her parents were ready to take her home. However, in an unexpected turn of events, Child Protective Services (CPS) took custody of Ziya without any court order.Ziya's parents have repeatedly proven their commitment and ability to provide the best possible life for their daughter. Despite this, CPS and the hospital where Ziya was born have allegedly used past history and social media manipulation to unjustly separate her from her family. This is not just about one family's fight for justice; it is about every parent's right to raise their child in a loving environment without fear of unwarranted intervention. It is about ensuring that systems put in place for child protection are not misused or manipulated. We urge the courts in Texas to consider the evidence presented by Ziya’s parents demonstrating their change and dedication towards providing an excellent life for their daughter. We call on them not only as concerned citizens but as advocates for justice who believe that every child deserves a chance with those who love them most.Sign this petition today if you stand against injustice; if you believe that families should be kept together; if you want your voice heard by those who can make a difference. Stand with us as we demand justice for Ziya!

Improve Healthcare Standards for Goats at Surfing Goat Dairy

I am an employee at Surfing Goat Dairy, currently undergoing cross-training. It deeply distresses me to witness the deteriorating health conditions of our 325 goats due to inadequate healthcare provisions. These animals are not just a part of our farm dairy; they are sentient beings that deserve proper care and attention.Recently, there has been a noticeable decline in their enthusiasm and overall health. They have been falling sick more frequently, engaging in fights that result in bruises and bloodshed, and desperately needing more shelter. This situation is not only affecting the goats but also leading employees like myself to feel mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. The root cause of this issue lies within the lack of communication and compromise among staff members regarding the welfare standards for these animals. It's high time we address this concern seriously as it directly impacts the wellbeing of these goats.According to a study by Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (2019), providing appropriate healthcare services can significantly improve livestock productivity while reducing unnecessary suffering amongst animals. Therefore, we urge Surfing Goat Dairy management to ensure adequate healthcare measures for our 325goats. We need better communication protocols within staffing concerning animal welfare issues along with sufficient resources dedicated towards improving their living conditions. Please sign this petition if you believe in humane treatment for all creatures big or small because every life matters!

End Sanctuary State Status in New York

As a lifelong resident in New York, having lived and worked in three of five boroughs, I've seen firsthand how our resources are being stretched thin. Our beloved boroughs - Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx and Staten Island - are shouldering the financial burden of providing for illegal immigrants. We're not just talking about housing; we're also funding their food, clothing, medical care and education. This isn't just about money though; it's about safety too. We've witnessed an alarming increase in violent crimes linked to gangs that are indirectly supported by our tax dollars. The cost is trickling to Long Island as Illegal Migrants aided by other illegal communities already here are taking away from our children’s needs as well as the needs of our veterans, seniors and poor. Nassau University Medical Center is collapsing from unpaid bills of illegals along with mismanagement. Just because Nassau and Suffolk refused to take in the illegals does not mean we are not included in the “sanctuary status”. New York is home to over 4 million immigrants who contribute significantly to the economy and cultural diversity (source: American Immigration Council). However, it's crucial that immigration is carried out legally and responsibly so as not to strain public resources or compromise public safety. We need policies that prioritize the needs of New Yorkers first. It's time for us to reconsider our status as a Sanctuary State which shields illegal immigrants from certain federal immigration laws (source: Center for Immigration Studies). By doing this we can ensure that our resources go towards supporting legal residents who contribute positively towards society. We ALL, whether we are first generation or fifth generation have migrated here legally. We have heard our grandparents and parents struggles and the pride they felt to come here, without a handout and make it. New Yorkers including legal immigrants deserve to be heard. Our once beautiful city needs to go back to being the jewel it once was, before the rest of the state looks like the mess it is now.We urge lawmakers in Albany to put an end to Sanctuary State status in New York State. Let's prioritize the welfare and safety of all legal residents living here today! Sign this petition if you agree!

Revoke Georgia Law (House Bill 30) to Uphold Freedom of Speech

Hello brothers and sisters. I am deeply concerned about the implications of Georgia's House Bill 30. This law criminalizes the expression of certain religious beliefs, directly impacting our communities - African Israelites, Christians, and Muslims alike. It is a violation of our freedom of speech to be prohibited from discussing aspects inherent to our faiths.House Bill 30 specifically targets criticism against the State of Israel and statements such as "The Jews Caused Jesus to be Crucified." These are topics that have historical and religious significance for many people in our community. The First Amendment protects the right to freedom of speech in America; this includes controversial or unpopular opinions.According to a report by PEN America (2019), laws that prohibit specific types of speech can lead to self-censorship out of fear for legal repercussions. This stifles open dialogue and infringes upon fundamental human rights. We must remember that freedom does not mean agreeing with every statement made but allowing space for differing viewpoints in public discourse. By repealing House Bill 30, we can uphold these principles while respecting all faiths' rights.Let us stand together against this infringement on our constitutional rights. Sign this petition today and help restore true freedom of speech in Georgia and in other states across the country.

Vote NO to Case Number CBOA-2769. Rezoning SW Corner of East 141st S & South 129th E Ave.

We the undersigned neighbors are OPPOSED to the Rezoning site proposed at the SW corner of East 141th ST South and South 129th East Ave, the potential site of Holliday Sand and Gravel. The primary issues are:TRAFFIC This proposed site is to bring more than 100+ trucks driving through residential and school areas everyday. These trucks currently don't follow rules of the road by crossing the center lines, excessive speeding where speed limits are clearly listed, not fully stopping at stop signs, and running people off the road. With the escalation of semi trucks it will increase daily commute times, making it nearly impossible for taxpayers to easily travel to work and school without having to find alternate routes or long lines accessing the turnpike. Not to mention making it difficult to receive proper emergency services. There will be increased damage to single lane roads and intersections at the expense of whom? The taxpayers who do not want to see this rezoning approved.SAFETY How does the old saying go? Kids will be kids. This is true for many of us and our families. We have children who play catch in their front yards, the corners where school buses stop in the morning and afternoons, the same roads where kids learn to ride bikes, while others enjoy riding horses from the stables. Now picture a child's play disrupted because their ball rolled into the street in front of a speeding semi truck. It's not something we ever want to encounter. With 100+ trucks a day we will see an increase in traffic accidents, especially since the hours of operation will be during peak commuting times for school pick up and drop offs.PROPOSED FACILITY/LAND ITSELF This proposed plan for the facility and its equipment is very off-putting. This is supposed to be a quiet country setting. This will be disrupted by three story structures and noisy conveyorbelts, tall fluorescent lights that will be shining into our bedroom windows. We can be the voice of the people, but what about the voice of the wildlife that call these 200 acres home? The eagles and hawks will be forced to move to find food elsewhere. The coyotes and fox will have to learn to prey on our beloved pets. There currently is an issue with coyotes entering our neighborhoods as it is now. Take away their homes and they will be forced into our backyards. We ask why would you allow this ancient land to be destroyed so that the company and owner, whom not to mention do not reside in Oklahoma, be allowed to mine behind the places we call home? There also is a great issue of flooding. This is a highly prone area to historic flooding in 1923, 1986, and most recently 2019. This land was completely under water, just think about the potential chemical contamination from it's machinery and equipment.Several neighborhoods have voiced disapproval for rezoning this land for mining. This petition is not meant to be anti-business, but simply for the preservation of our communities, property values, and safety of our loved ones. For those who may be unfamiliar with our wonderful communities, we have several picturesque residential areas dating back to the early 1900s. Some of the first neighborhoods developed for Broken Arrow and Bixby. We are fighting to keep the historic, peaceful setting and charm to our neighborhoods. We are simply asking to keep our property values from depleting and a safe environment for our children to grow without worrying about dangerous semi trucks and the chaos of a noisy, eyesore mining facility within arms reach. Please take a moment to read this rezoning plan. We politely ask for your help by signing this petition. We were robbed back in 2013 when they allowed the first sand mine to infiltrate our neighborhood, lets not allow this to happen again. This site is even larger than the first. Topher, a light-skin Brown Latine person with short hair, a beard and a black short sleeved polo shirt. behind a sitting Topher is a blue background.Dear National Association of the Deaf,In light of the recent events of the Super Bowl halftime performance, it has raised numerous concerns within the Deaf community that have the Deaf community questioning the integrity and the procedure of the selection process for ASL performers. This has been an ongoing issue for several years, over the course of which the harm caused to the Deaf community has increased significantly. As dedicated advocates for the rights and well-being of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, we start this petition by highlighting the core mission of the National Association of the Deaf (NAD):"The National Association of the Deaf empowers Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals to thrive in a society that ensures their accessibility, rights, and opportunities. We aim to promote, protect, and preserve the rights and quality of life of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals in the United States."In keeping with this mission, we bring to your attention a matter of significant concern that requires immediate and decisive action. Every year, the purported commitment to 'elevating accessibility' falls short of expectations. NAD consistently fails to properly identify ASL performers as interpreters or agents of accessibility, leading to confusion regarding their role—whether they are there to provide accessibility or simply for entertainment. Marlee Matlin has expressed her dismay on X, formerly known as Twitter, during the pre-game:"I am absolutely SHOCKED at @CBS for introducing the Deaf performers at today’s pregame #SuperBowl and then not showing even one second (or more) of their performance… as has been tradition for the last 30 years. WHY!?"In 2012, NAD made history by settling with Netflix to ensure captions on their streaming service. In 2021, NAD reached a settlement with the White House after the Trump Administration neglected to provide live interpreting during the press briefings regarding the pandemic. In its dealings with the NFL or broadcasting network, NAD fails to hold to the same standards as it has toward both public and private sectors. This consistent mishandling, misrepresentation, and confusion have caused harm to our community and eroded confidence in the organization's leadership. Therefore, we, the undersigned, demand the National Association of the Deaf take the following actions.Issue a Formal Apology: NAD must acknowledge the oversight and the resulting harm by issuing a formal apology. This apology should be delivered in both American Sign Language and written English and disseminated across all available communication channels to ensure it reaches the entire community.Conduct a Thorough Investigation: We urge the Board to thoroughly investigate the possibility of exploitation by any parties involved in the selection process or collaboration with the NFL. It is essential to ensure that no individuals or entities have taken advantage of the situation for personal gain at the expense of the deaf community's rights and representation. Transparency and accountability in this investigation are paramount to restoring trust and confidence in NAD's leadership. We call upon the NAD Board to uphold the integrity of the organization by initiating a comprehensive investigation into the following areas:The existence of any conflicts of interest during the selection process, as outlined in Section IV #14 of the NAD bylaws. The nature of the relationship between Love Sign and NAD at the time of announcing the collaboration with the NFL.The role, if any, that NAD played in facilitating or participating in this collaborative effort.Establish a Dedicated Committee: Assuming NAD views the incident as aligned with its objectives, we propose the creation of a dedicated committee. This committee would oversee future selection processes, ensuring they are conducted transparently and inclusively.Ensure Transparency and Adherence to Due Process: We expect NAD to commit to transparency and due process by providing a comprehensive report of the investigation's findings. This report should be made public no later than by March 31st, 2024. Should there be a need for an extension, the Board must communicate this transparently through all available channels, with a final deadline set no later than April 30th, 2024.By signing this petition, we unite in solidarity to call for accountability, transparency, and a reaffirmed commitment to the principles and mission of the NAD. Dear National Association of the Deaf,

In light of the recent events of the Super Bowl halftime performance, it has raised numerous concerns within the Deaf community that have the Deaf community questioning the integrity and the procedure of the selection process for ASL performers. This has been an ongoing issue for several years, over the course of which the harm caused to the Deaf community has increased significantly. "The National Association of the Deaf empowers Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals to thrive in a society that ensures their accessibility, rights, and opportunities. We aim to promote, protect, and preserve the rights and quality of life of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals in the United States."

In keeping with this mission, we bring to your attention a matter of significant concern that requires immediate and decisive action. Every year, the purported commitment to 'elevating accessibility' falls short of expectations. NAD consistently fails to properly identify ASL performers as interpreters or agents of accessibility, leading to confusion regarding their role—whether they are there to provide accessibility or simply for entertainment. This consistent mishandling, misrepresentation, and confusion have caused harm to our community and eroded confidence in the organization's leadership.

Therefore, we, the undersigned, demand the National Association of the Deaf take the following actions.

Issue a Formal Apology: NAD must acknowledge the oversight and the resulting harm by issuing a formal apology. This apology should be delivered in both American Sign Language and written English and disseminated across all available communication channels to ensure it reaches the entire community.

Conduct a Thorough Investigation: We urge the Board to thoroughly investigate the possibility of exploitation by any parties involved in the selection process or collaboration with the NFL. It is essential to ensure that no individuals or entities have taken advantage of the situation for personal gain at the expense of the deaf community's rights and representation. Transparency and accountability in this investigation are paramount to restoring trust and confidence in NAD's leadership.

We call upon the NAD Board to uphold the integrity of the organization by initiating a comprehensive investigation into the following areas:

The existence of any conflicts of interest during the selection process, as outlined in Section IV #14 of the NAD bylaws. The nature of the relationship between Love Sign and NAD at the time of announcing the collaboration with the NFL.The role, if any, that NAD played in facilitating or participating in this collaborative effort.

Establish a Dedicated Committee: Assuming NAD views the incident as aligned with its objectives, we propose the creation of a dedicated committee. This committee would oversee future selection processes, ensuring they are conducted transparently and inclusively.

Stop the Proposed at 24 Miller road, Mahopac, NY

There is a proposed lithium battery farm on Miller Road in Mahopac, NY. This is not just a personal issue for me, as it’s in my backyard, but it's a concern for our entire community. This project threatens to disrupt our peaceful neighborhood and poses significant risks to us all.Lithium batteries are known to pose fire risks due to their high energy density and the flammable electrolytes they contain (source: National Fire Protection Association). A fire at this proposed facility could have disastrous consequences for our homes and families. Furthermore, there's a risk of contamination of local reservoirs and sewers from potential leaks or spills during manufacturing or storage processes (source: U.S Environmental Protection Agency). Our communities in Mahopac, Baldwin Place & Somers are primarily residential with schools, parks, and homes that could be negatively impacted by this development. We value the safety of our children, the cleanliness of our water supply, and the tranquility of our neighborhoods. We urge local authorities in Putnam County to reconsider this proposal in light of these serious concerns. Our health should not be compromised for industrial progress. Please sign this petition if you stand with us against the proposed lithium battery farm on Miller Avenue.

Demand a Thorough Investigation into the Case of Cole Brings Plenty

Cole Brings Plenty, an Indigenous man, has tragically become another statistic in the alarming trend of violence against Indigenous people. It is a known fact that Indigenous men and women are 10 times more likely to be victims of heinous acts than any other race. This personal story is not just about seeking justice for one individual; it's about challenging a system that often overlooks the plight of our Indigenous brothers and sisters. The police are allegedly attempting to cover up this case, denying Cole his right to justice. We demand a thorough investigation into his case and insist on transparency throughout this process. We cannot allow another instance where justice is denied due to racial bias or negligence. Please join us in demanding accountability from our law enforcement agencies and ensuring that justice is served for Cole Brings Plenty.

As per Datareportal's 2020 statistics, TikTok has over 800 million active users worldwide, making it one of the most influential social media platforms today. The abrupt banning of accounts like the Pink Cattle Company disrupts this connection and stifles creativity. The reason behind this ban remains unclear, raising questions about transparency in TikTok's moderation policies. Helping Young Adults Find Independence

Young adults who are striving for a better tomorrow need public transportation to be accessible. We have a fantastic community of young adults in our homeless shelter on turner road between Walmart and the Willamette Humane Society. The closest public bus stop is more than a mile away and across the very busy HWY 22. These young adults are struggling to fit punctuality into their skill set because the distance to public transportation can be quite a deterrent.

Demand Accountability: Investigate Church of Scientology's Abuses of Tax Exemption

We, the undersigned, urgently call upon the IRS and the US Congress to investigate and address the documented abuses of tax exemption by the Church of Scientology. Sea Org Indentured Servitude: Utilizing tax-exempt status to turn Sea Org members into indentured servants, exploiting the protections granted by the IRS.2. Hiring Private Investigators: Using tax-exempt funds to hire private investigators for stalking, harassing, and intimidating former members, critics, journalists, and filmmakers.3. Illegal Acquisition of Phone Records: Funding the illegal acquisition of phone records to track the communications of targeted individuals.4. Unlawful Obtaining of Travel Information: Using tax-exempt money for obtaining flight and travel information to facilitate stalking and harassment.5. Publicizing Private Confessional Data: Funding the publicization of private confessional data to smear and humiliate former Scientologists who speak out against abuse.6. False, Defamatory Propaganda: Channeling tax-exempt dollars into financing false, defamatory propaganda through hate websites and publications.7. Google Ad Campaigns: Financing Google ad campaigns to promote malicious smear campaigns against critics, journalists, and filmmakers.8. Legal Defense Spending: Spending millions of tax-exempt dollars on lawyers to defend against legal consequences arising from the listed actions.Additionally, we urge the IRS to investigate why the Church of Scientology fails to make 990 information widely available to the public, in direct contradiction to IRS Code.By signing this petition, we implore the IRS and the US Congress to swiftly investigate and take decisive action to ensure accountability, putting an end to the misuse of tax-exempt status by the Church of Scientology.

Implement Safety Measures on Goodview Road to Prevent Fatal Accidents

Our friends tragically lost their son on Goodview Road. He was simply trying to get home when he hit ice and went over an embankment where a guardrail could have saved his life. This personal tragedy is not an isolated incident. In the past five years, there have been 99 motor vehicle accidents on this road, three of which resulted in fatalities. Despite its high traffic volume, Goodview Road is not considered a primary road and thus lacks the necessary safety measures that could prevent such tragedies.Goodview Road's current condition poses a significant risk to all who travel it daily. It's time for us to take action and demand change from our local authorities in Goodview, VA, USA. We urge them to implement necessary safety measures such as installing guardrails at dangerous bends and improving road conditions during icy weather.By signing this petition, you are joining us in our call for safer roads in our community - because no one should lose their life while simply trying to get home. Please sign this petition today; let's prevent further tragedies from happening on Goodview Road.

Demand Justice for Unjust Police Killing and Prosecution of Responsible Officer

My baby brother, in the midst of a mental health crisis, was unjustly killed by a police officer. This personal tragedy has left our family devastated and seeking justice. It is unacceptable that those entrusted with our safety become the perpetrators of violence against those they are sworn to protect. In the United States alone, approximately 25% of people killed by police have a known mental illness (source: Treatment Advocacy Center). This statistic highlights a systemic issue within our law enforcement agencies - an inability or unwillingness to appropriately respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises. We demand that the officer responsible for my brother's death be immediately fired from their position and prosecuted for their actions. We also call upon local and national authorities to implement comprehensive training programs on dealing with mental health issues for all law enforcement officers. This is not just about getting justice for one family; it's about making sure no other family has to endure what we have gone through. Please sign this petition and join us in demanding justice and change.

Return the Obermeier Children to Their Rightful Home

The Obermeier family of Cambridge, MN has been living a nightmare since August 2022. Isanti County Child Protection removed their children due to a broken stove and mental health concerns while the father was at work, unaware of the unfolding situation. Since then, false reports and allegations have been used against this family to keep their children in out-of-home foster care. Tragically, after 14 months in foster care, it was discovered that the children may have been subjected to abuse - an ordeal that was covered up by the very agency meant to protect them. This is not just an attack on one family's rights but also a gross failure of our child protection system. The National Coalition for Child Protection Reform states that "children are far more likely to be abused in foster care than in their own homes". Yet despite this alarming statistic, Isanti County Child Protection continues its unjust actions against the Obermeiers. That includes the deliberate actions to hide the abuse that they are subjected to while in the care of isanti county. We demand justice for this family and immediate action from those responsible for overseeing child welfare services. We call upon Isanti County authorities and Minnesota Department of Human Services Commissioner Jodi Harpstead to rectify this grave injustice immediately. To also help isanti county and everyone else who is agreeing to deal with injustice with our family services and family.court systemsPlease sign our petition demanding that these innocent children be returned home where they belong - with their parents who love them dearly. Your signature can help right a wrong and bring about much-needed change within our child protection system.. Its been 560 days. The agency has violated my rights my children's rights, I have been participating in individual therapy, marriage therapy, emdr therapy, dbt therapy, anger management course completed. I have provided 10 negative UAs, I have attended intensive out patient treatment (even though sober for a long time) using it as more of a relapse prevention with the stress so taking advantage of it. I attend all visitations even though my children do not go. I participate in therapy with the children even though I can't be present but engage with the therapists and do my own sessions with them. Pregnancy resource center parenting classes. Completed 2 independent assessments at the refuge for a safety plan. I have attended conferences. Maintained appropriate conversations with the school and the therapists. Attended every court hearing, attend belleris when I can. Parental assessment done and completed, psychologist appointments, medications perscribed, skills worker, mediation with Katrallasso group, Advocate for my children constantly. Try to get the doctor appointments set up by can't be present. Set up dental appointments and made sure insurance information was updated. The 1 thing I did not complete was having meaningful relationships with the GAL and the social worker. And having the reflective capacity to understand why kids were removed. The agency has also submitted false document in court records to the extent of changing and altering the actual document and I do not feel.comfortable with the I formation they receive and report being accurate or even the correct document. If Any more recommendations anyone else could provide that I have not done that may help I am open to!

Demand the Dismissal of Corporal Kevin Sinnott for Misconduct and Perjury

I am a longtime resident of San Anselmo, deeply rooted in the community. The recent events involving Central Marin Police Corporal Kevin Sinnott have left me concerned and alarmed. His excessive use of force and alleged perjury during the arrest of Bruce Frankel are not only unacceptable but also a breach of our trust. We, the undersigned, hereby petition for the immediate termination of Corporal Kevin Sinnott from his position within the Central Marin Police Authority. It has become increasingly evident that Corporal Sinnott's actions are not only a threat to public safety but also a severe breach of trust and ethical conduct within our community.Corporal Kevin Sinnott's history of alleged police misconduct, particularly exemplified in the recent incident involving Mr. Bruce Frankel, is deeply concerning. Mr. Frankel, a San Anselmo resident, was subjected to excessive force and wrongful arrest while he was experiencing a medical emergency – a grand mal seizure – within his own home. Despite the clear indication of a medical crisis, Corporal Sinnott's response was not only inadequate but also resulted in further harm to Mr. Frankel. This incident is not an isolated one. In the past, Corporal Sinnott has been accused of engaging in excessive force, as evidenced by his involvement in an incident in September of 2019, where he and another officer performed a leg sweep on a disabled man delivering pizza, causing severe injury. These repeated instances of alleged misconduct paint a troubling picture of Corporal Sinnott's approach to law enforcement and underscore a pattern of behavior that cannot be ignored.Furthermore, the subsequent actions taken by Corporal Sinnott and his colleagues, including the alleged cover-up of their misconduct, only serve to exacerbate the severity of the situation. The failure to properly assess and respond to medical emergencies, as well as the misuse of force, reflects a fundamental disregard for the well-being and rights of the community members these officers are sworn to protect. We call upon the Central Marin Police Authority and the city managers of San Anselmo (David Donery), Larkspur (Dan Schwarz), and Corte Madera (Adam Wolff) to take swift and decisive action in response to these serious allegations. I include the city managers because according to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, "the chief executive officer (mayor or city manager) or his designee is not only granted the power to appoint and dismiss the chief of police at will but sets the tone for the conduct of the entire force".Corporal Kevin Sinnott's continued presence within the department undermines public trust and poses a significant risk to the safety and rights of community members. Therefore, we demand that Corporal Sinnott be immediately terminated from his position, and that a thorough investigation be conducted into the actions of all officers involved in the aforementioned incidents. The residents of San Anselmo, Larkspur, and Corte Madera deserve a police force that upholds the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and respect for human rights. It is imperative that swift and meaningful action be taken to address the misconduct within the department and to ensure that incidents like those involving Corporal Kevin Sinnott are not repeated in the future.

Created on behalf of Sulala Animal Rescue in Gaza:We, the undersigned, urgently call upon Israel to address the critical needs of animals in Gaza by including animal food and supplies in the approved list for UN donations. The ongoing crisis in Gaza has not only impacted the human population but has also left our cherished pets, horses and donkeys in a perilous situation. Despite our initial one-month stockpile of dog and cat food, these supplies are rapidly depleting due to restrictions on incoming and outgoing goods. In addition to the scarcity of food, our animals are struggling to access water due to the lack of fuel to operate water pumps. Residents are forced to purchase water from vendors, further compounding the challenges faced by our animal companions. While we appreciate the commendable humanitarian efforts of the United Nations, it is imperative to extend our compassion and assistance to the vulnerable animal population as well. The United Nations coordinates the logistics of aid entering Gaza, and we urge them to use their influence to encourage Israel to include animal food supplies in the aid destined for Gaza.By including animal food and supplies in the approved list, Israel can ensure that our beloved pets, who cannot advocate for themselves, receive the necessary care and support during these challenging times. Please sign this petition today and join us in calling upon Israel to include animal food and supplies in the approved list for UN donations destined for Gaza. Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of these innocent animals affected by the crisis.

SBC Board of Supervisors MUST Cancel Contract with Apple Valley Animal Shelter!

Apple Valley Animal Shelter (AVAS) does not have the structure in place to take in the volume from SBC. Animals are being sent to AVAS lacking proper care and exposure to potential rescuers/adopters, resulting in animals being killed prematurely and unnecessarily.AVAS, presented a plan to improve/expand the shelter in anticipation of the contract renewal with SBC for $1+ Million Annually:1) The new contract commenced in July 2023, and AVAS has yet to implement most of the proposed changes. Rather than expand the kennel space, they reduced their kennel space, thereby giving the animals less time to be saved. UPDATE: New Kennel Unit was finally ordered in October with the $80K in additional funds from SBC, but still not in operation 9 months into the contract.2) AVAS proposed plan included hiring a behaviorist to socialize the dogs and provide vital behavior notes for rescues/adopters. No behaviorist on staff 4 months into the contract! UPDATE: Behaviorist was hired, but most of the animals don’t have behavioral notes because the animals get killed too quickly.3) AVAS proposed plan included hiring a PR/Networker to help provide exposure to the animals. Instead, their social media sites are blocking volunteer networkers who have been critical of their operations. UPDATE: PR/Networker has been posting photos and videos on AVAS Facebook pages, but the videos/photos are taken down once the dogs are pending euthanasia—at the most critical time, when they should be seen.4) The Director of AVAS is pursuing her career as a Celebrity Photographer and rarely there to oversee the shelter operations. UPDATE: Gina Whiteside, Director of AVAS was in Miami during the busiest shelter week of the year, July 4th. She also traveled to Milan, New York, and London since the contract commenced.5) The Rescue Coordinator is not able to handle the volume, missing important emails/phone calls from rescues and providing erroneous data about the animals, resulting in more animals being killed. UPDATE: The Rescue Coordinator makes the networkers “jump through hoops” in order to obtain the status of unlisted dogs, instead of posting a public “Euth List,” letting everyone know which animals are pending euthanasia. It has taken over 24 hours to find out the status, and by then animals were already killed. The Rescue Coordinator job description includes assisting with euthanasia, and requires a euthanasia certificate.6) Most towns in SBC do not know that the county animals are being sent to AVAS. Because of their expedited kill rate, dog/owners are not able to find their animals in time. UPDATE: the Volume from SBC is greater than 60%! More than 5,000 animals have come through AVAS since the contract commenced in July 2023!7) The Mayor and City Council of Apple Valley are in full support of AVAS and therefore refuse to listen to the public, or require the shelter to improve their operations. UPDATE: the Town Manager, Doug Robertson, who signed the contract for Apple Valley, received a raise the day the contract commenced…earning almost $25k/monthly!8) AVAS is in BREACH of the contract, Section N, that requires them to make all animals visible to the public. Most animals (especially cats) do not even make it onto the site, so there is no record of what the animals looked like before they’re killed. Some animals are uploaded onto the site after being there almost a week, and then killed a few days later while the owners could still be searching for them.AVAS misrepresented themselves and their ability to handle the volume from SBC, therefore the contract MUST BE CANCELLED! Those animals deserve a shelter that cares about saving their lives, instead of the $1+ Million that SBC is paying them.SBC Board of Supervisors approved $45 Million for building a new shelter last year. The new shelter structure should be expedited! In the meantime, VVAPL building is vacant in Apple Valley—a contract with VVAPL would be beneficial for the animals. Also Victorville is refurbishing a old high school to use as a new shelter—a contract with Victorville should be explored. Otherwise expand Devore Shelter with the funds used to send animals to AVAS. The animals must be redirected to shelters who can handle the volume and possess a greater desire to help save their lives! The animals of SBC need YOUR help! Please give them a chance at life with people who truly want to save them. SBC Board of Supervisors, please cancel the AVAS contract ASAP!

Justice for Ignacio #A2411277

Ignacio, identified as #A2411277, found his way to Miami Dade Animal Services on November 28, 2022, a stray seeking refuge from the torment of his abusive owner. His arrival bore witness to the scars of neglect, with a heart-wrenching medical report revealing his battle with heartworm, an abscess marring his face, and evident signs of mistreatment. For Ignacio, this sanctuary promised a glimmer of hope, a chance to rewrite his story and embrace a new beginning. Yet, on November 30, 2022, his hopes were dashed as his tormentor reclaimed him, plunging him back into the abyss of cruelty and despair. Now, fast-forward to April 10, 2024, and Ignacio has once again broken free from the shackles of his torment. However, his freedom is overshadowed by the grim reality of his condition. Neglect has ravaged his body, leaving him teetering on the brink of survival. A veterinary examination paints a harrowing picture: Ignacio remains afflicted with heartworm, his body weakened by anemia, a rectal mass further adding to his agony, his once proud smile marred by missing teeth, and his frame emaciated by severe malnourishment. In the depths of his suffering, Ignacio has lost not only his physical strength but also his faith in the possibility of a better tomorrow.Ignacio's life has been a relentless battle for survival, etched in the scars that mar his weary body. His resilience is a testament to his strength, enduring the pain and suffering inflicted upon him by those meant to care. Now, it falls upon us to take up his cause, to become the voice of hope that Ignacio so desperately needs. We must rally together to demand justice for Ignacio, to ensure that his struggles do not go unnoticed or unaddressed. It is our duty to fight for Ignacio, to stand up against cruelty and neglect, and to pave the way for a brighter future for all creatures who suffer unjustly. We stand united in our demand for justice for Ignacio. It is imperative that Ignacio's owner be held accountable for the suffering inflicted upon him. We call for swift and decisive action from the authorities to prosecute the individual responsible for Ignacio's pain and neglect. Ignacio deserves nothing less than full and fair justice, and we will not rest until it is served. Together, let us raise our voices and ensure that Ignacio's plight does not go unanswered.

Fairness for the Families and Patriots Poisoned at Fort Ord, US Army Base

We are asking all who support Veterans of the United States Armed Forces to stand with the families facing the dire, and in some cases, deadly consequences, of having drunk poisoned water while working or living at Fort Ord Army base in California.Poisoned in service to our country, hundreds of Veterans who served on Fort Ord are afflicted with cancers and other serious illnesses after drinking contaminated water. Sadly in goodcompany, many Fort Ord Veterans are suffering from rare blood cancers and other medical conditions which were recognized as linked to the water contamination at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. And as with Lejeune, civilian patriots who served on base, as well as military families who lived there, are also suffering and dying.Fort Ord was declared an EPA Superfund site in 1990 and was even placed on the National Priorities List as among the worst contaminated sites in the country. In fact, many of the same contaminants found at Lejeune have been found contaminating the air, soil, and water at Fort Ord. This includes several known or probable carcinogens, namely Benzene, PCE, and TCE. These 3 highly toxic chemicals were primary contaminants of concern at both Lejeune andFort Ord. But despite the similarities, all VA benefit claims for those exposed at Fort Ord are being denied. If you believe we must stop the cycle of "delay, deny, and hope they die" when it comes toVeterans’ benefits, please sign. We must demand action and recognition of the deadly consequences from DOD contamination!Out of fairness for Fort Ord families, we respectfully request Veterans benefit coverage, as well as hospital and medical services coverage, equivalent to those impacted at Lejeune and as guaranteed in the Honoring America’s Veterans and Caring for Camp Lejeune Families Act of 2012. And due to the scope of DOD contamination, we request the following further actions:● Creating a Health Registry similar to the Open Burn Pit Registry, which will allow for learning more about health effects from air, soil, and water contamination on DOD installations.● Requiring periodic review of the registry as well as reassessment by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) of emerging epidemiological evidence that would substantiate adding conditions to the presumptive list for VA benefits coverage.● Establishing a Medical Monitoring program that will be guided by information learned through the Registry.Thank you for your support.

Find Justice for the Murder of Kellie Owens by the Charlotte Police Department

Kellie Owens, a loving mother and a cherished friend, was found dead in her apartment 17 years ago. Her two-year-old daughter was left alone in the bedroom, oblivious to the tragedy that had befallen her mother. Despite the passage of time, no one has been held accountable for this heinous crime. This enduring injustice has caused immense pain and suffering for Kellie's family and friends who yearn for answers about why such a golden heart was taken from them.We are calling on the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department to continue working on Kellie's murder case until her murderer is brought to justice. According to data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), approximately 40% of homicides go unsolved each year in America (source: FBI Uniform Crime Reporting Program). We cannot allow Kellie's case to remain part of this grim statistic. It is crucial that we ensure justice prevails not only for Kellie but also as a stand against all unsolved murders which leave families in anguish and perpetrators unpunished. We implore you to support us in our quest for truth and justice by signing this petition today. Demand City of Denver to Convert Embassy Suites into Future Affordable Housing

Like many others in our community, I know hardworking folks who cannot afford housing in Denver. They are being driven out of our community and forced to relocate to neighboring cities and even out of state. This is not just an issue of affordability; it's an issue of community preservation. In Denver alone, over 31% of households spend more than half their income on rent (source: Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies), making it difficult, if not impossible, for many residents to afford basic necessities such as food and healthcare. The Embassy Suites building located at 7525 E Hampden Ave in Denver could be part of the solution. We propose that this city-owned building only operates as a low-barrier homeless shelter for a maximum of two years before transitioning into affordable housing units. This would provide immediate relief for those without homes while also creating long-term solutions for hardworking Denverites struggling with housing costs. This proposal requires recognition from the city council and action that reflects the desires of our community. Our councilwoman for District 4, Diana Romero Campbell, must lead this initiative toward obtaining a written commitment from Denver. We cannot stand by while members of our community are displaced due to unaffordable housing costs. Let's call upon our city leaders and demand they take action now by transforming the Embassy Suites building into a beacon of hope - first as a homeless shelter, then as affordable housing to ensure valued community members are not displaced. Please sign this petition today so we can help responsible community members obtain the housing they deserve right here in Denver! If you would like to learn more and engage in the discussion, we welcome you to join us on our facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/667567385564394/Diana Romero Campbell: We are calling on you to secure a written commitment from the City of Denver by 12:00 PM MST on March 18, 2024. Honor U.S. MACV-SOG with the Congressional Gold Medal

We, the concerned citizens of the United States, call upon Congress to award the U.S Military Assistance Command, Vietnam, Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG) with a well-deserved Congressional Gold Medal. MACV-SOG was an elite special operations unit that played a vital role during the Vietnam War. During its existence from 1964 to 1972, MACV-SOG conducted highly classified and dangerous covert operations behind enemy lines in Southeast Asia. Composed of highly trained personnel from all branches of the military, including Special Forces soldiers and intelligence operatives, MACV-SOG carried out unconventional warfare missions that were critical to our national security objectives. Here are some compelling reasons why we believe MACV-SOG deserves this prestigious recognition:1. Extraordinary Valor: The members of MACV-SOG demonstrated exceptional bravery in executing their missions under extremely hazardous conditions. They faced constant danger from enemy forces while operating deep within hostile territory.2. Highly Successful Operations: Despite being outnumbered and outgunned by North Vietnamese forces, MACV-SOG achieved remarkable success throughout its existence. Their intelligence gathering efforts provided crucial information for strategic decision-making by American commanders.3. Covert Operations Expertise: The unique capabilities developed by MACV-SOG set new standards for unconventional warfare tactics and techniques that continue to influence modern special operations units today.4. Sacrifice and Losses: Casualty rates for SOG reconnaissance teams during the eight-year secret war fought across the fence in Laos, Cambodia and North Vietnam exceeded 100%, meaningevery man was wounded at least once and approximately half were killed.Of the 1,579 Americans missing in action from the Vietnam War, 50 are from the group. At least 11 SOG teams, perhaps more, simply vanished.5. Secrecy & Recognition Delay: Due to the classified nature of their missions, much of what they accomplished remained unknown until decades later when declassified documents shed light on their extraordinary contributions.6. Support for Veterans: Recognizing MACV-SOG with the Congressional Gold Medal would not only honor their service but also raise awareness about their sacrifices and provide long-overdue recognition to the surviving veterans and families of those who have passed away.We urge Congress to acknowledge the immense contributions of MACV-SOG by awarding them the Congressional Gold Medal. This prestigious honor would serve as a lasting tribute to their bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to defending our nation's interests during one of America's most challenging conflicts.Sources:- "MACV-SOG: A Unit History" by Major John L.
